Snehasish Ganguly Will Replace Sourav Ganguly as CAB President

Former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly has taken his name out of the running to lead the Cricket Association of Bengal.

This Opens the Door for Snehasish Ganguly

This opens the door for Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav’s older brother, to be elected without opposition at the CAB’s upcoming annual general meeting (AGM) on October 31.

Ganguly told reporters at Eden Gardens that he would only run for president if there was an election after he made the decision not to file his nomination papers for the position on the final day of nominations.

The deadline for nominations had passed. Because there won’t be any elections, the race won’t even be close to being competitive.

Ganguly has decided to “move aside” after being succeeded as president of the BCCI by Roger Binny. The previous week, Ganguly had announced that he would compete in the upcoming elections at CAB; however, he has now decided to abandon that plan.

“Had I been present, it would have meant that at least two other people would not have received any posts.

“As a result, I’ve decided to step aside,” Ganguly stated. “If there had been no opposition, I would have been elected without a problem; however, I do not believe that this is fair. If not for them, several people would not have been able to work for this association.

Dedicated To Their Jobs for The Next Three Years

They have committed to working for the next three years, and after that, we will evaluate the situation.

When questioned about his upcoming innings, he responded with “Let’s see. I have been relieved of my obligations for some time now, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I have no competition in CAB because everyone here is on my side.

There are both fresh faces and seasoned veterans in charge of running things here. I’ll be around too if that helps.”

Snehasish, who served as the secretary under Avishek Dalmiya, will now run the association. Amalendu Biswas, who is the father of Mayukh, and the leader of the Students Federation of India (SFI), will be appointed as the vice-president of the association.

Snehasish served as the secretary under Avishek Dalmiya.

The new secretary will be Naresh Ojha, and Prabir Chakraborty and Debabrata Das will each serve a second term as treasurer and joint secretary, respectively. Naresh Ojha will be the new secretary.

Snehasish stated that the “next level” of Bengal cricket would be his top priority as captain of the team.

Finishing Line

“Now that we are returning to normal [after Covid-19], we are ensuring that cricket gets the highest priority, be it men’s or women’s or age group cricket,” he said. “This applies to all age groups.”

He also mentioned that the CAB has already begun preparations for the ODI World Cup that will take place the following year.

“The lights have been modernized with LEDs that are controlled by the most recent DMX technology.

The process of putting in new seats has begun. Canopies are undergoing repair, as well as the construction of brand-new ones. In addition to that, we have ideas to improve the clubhouse.
