It just so happens that Manjrekar’s seclusion from the BCCI began with an ODI series against South Africa in the year 2020. At the time, the Proteas were scheduled to play in India for a three-match ODI series, but the matches had to be postponed because of Covid-19.
It was widely believed that Manjrekar was removed from the list of commentators due to conflicts with a top board member. Furthermore, for a considerable amount of time, he was not visible on Star Sports, which is the official broadcaster for the BCCI.
