Ashley de Silva, the chief executive officer of the SLC, was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “We leave from the contract, but as a consultant, if we need his help, we will receive it.”
According to a statement released by the SLC to the media, the decision was made because the technical advisory committee of the board, which was responsible for making the selection, was abolished earlier this year.
This came about as a result of a shift in the central administration, which resulted in Namal Rajapaksa, who had been serving as the minister of sports at the time, resigning from his position.
In the process of selecting members for the committee, Rajapaksa was a crucial figure. “The Executive Committee of the SLC. After much deliberation, was of the opinion that Tom Moody’s services are no longer required. He was directly reporting to the Technical Advisory Committee, which has ceased to exist now,” the SLC statement said.

Moody is said to have said something along the lines of, “It was an honor to serve SLC again, and I’m happy with what I managed to do during my tenure with the assistance of the Technical Advisory Committee.”
During his time in the role, which began on March 1 of the previous year, Moody oversaw a revamp of the structure of cricket in Sri Lanka. This included, but was not limited to, the implementation of a more streamlined provincial tournament.
